Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United… Which club can boast the best goalkeeper in the Premier League? Our verdict
The Premier League is blessed with some top-class goalkeepers and there have been some truly outstanding performances from some of the men between the sticks this season. We’re sure most club’s fans think they’ve got the best shot-stopper in the top-flight, but who actually has been number one?11Well,talkSPORT.com have been right across the action in 2018/19 and – after much deliberating – here is who we rate as the top ten ‘keepers so far this term…

10. Mat Ryan (Brighton & Hove Albion)

The shortest keeper in the Premier League at 6ft, Ryan stood tall for Brighton last season as they avoided relegation and has continued that impressive form so far, keeping three clean sheets in a row as the Seagulls recorded successive victories over West Ham, Newcastle United and Wolves.11

9. Ben Foster (Watford)

Foster was a proven Premier League goalkeeper when Watford moved to sign him for a budget 4million fee from West Brom, and he’s continued to perform brilliantly in the top-flight. The 35-year-old has started all 12 of Watford’s matches this season, and he’s pulled off some truly eye-catching saves to play a key role in the Hertfordshire club’s excellent start to the campaign; fine stops against Crystal Palace and Wolves will surely top the ‘saves of the season’ ranking and are well worth revisiting.11

8. Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

The Spurs shot-stopper has come in for a lot of criticism this season after a number of high-profile errors, particularly in the Champions League. However, despite his erratic form, the World Cup winner remains one of Europes best and has still produced some brilliant match-saving stops.11

7. Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City)

He had an excellent World Cup and Schmeichel continues to be a commanding presence in the Foxes goal after proving his ability on the world stage. Four clean sheets in 12 matches this season, the Dane is vital to Claude Puels Leicester side.11

6. Rui Patricio (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

It has been a pretty faultless start to Premier League life for the former Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper, who has played his part in helping the newly-promoted side rise to 11th in the table. Four clean sheets and a 76 per cent save ratio – the best outside the top five teams – suggest the Portugal no.1 is proving his worth.11

5. Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Englands standout performer during their run to the World Cup semi-final, the 24-year-old is firmly established as no.1 for club and country. Comfortable with the ball at his feet, he is an excellent distributor and makes crucial saves on a weekly basis. His displays have even seen him linked with a big money transfer to Man United.11

4. Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea)

The worlds most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa has enjoyed a fine start to life at Stamford Bridge since his 71.6m switch from Athletic Bilbao. Nine clean sheets in all competitions have given Chelsea the third tightest defence in the league and as is compulsory among modern keepers, he is equally confident with the ball at his feet, averaging 29 passes per match.11

3. Alisson (Liverpool)

Despite mistakes against Leicester and Arsenal, Alisson is vital to Liverpool and has restored a level of order after the dismal days of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius. The second most expensive goalkeeper in the world, the 65m man is confident and commanding and has kept five clean sheets in the league, the joint highest, and appears to have solved Jurgen Kopps keeper crisis.11

2. Ederson (Manchester City)

The Brazilian has changed the role of goalkeeping, turning it into an art form, with his ability to swiftly turn defence into attack, through accurate passes – 82.7 per cent – to be exact, that get City forward. Think of his assist for Sergio Aguero to open the scoring against Huddersfield. Oh, and he has only conceded five goals.11

1. David De Gea (Manchester United)

While he has been nowhere near the level of last season, De Gea is still the Premier Leagues best goalkeeper. A Golden Glove winner and five times PFA Team of the Year inductee, the Spaniard has proven his class over a number of campaigns and although his long-term Old Trafford future is in doubt, Red Devils supporters will be praying he stays for many years to come.11

Brendan Rodgers is set to take over at Leicester

Xhaka is honestly one of the most disappointing player I've seen in an Arsenal shirt. This is just from the few games I've seen him play in, but when he signed from Moenchengladbach, I was thinking it was a great young talent that Wenger captured and they have a midfielder to be feared, but he was none of that in the few games I've seen him in.
