Tottenham 1-1 Arsenal: Unai Emery cant wait for introduction of VAR following controversial Harry Kane penalty
Arsenal boss Unai Emery says he looks forward to the introduction of VAR in the Premier League next season after the Gunners conceded a controversial penalty in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham.Harry Kane cancelled out Aaron Ramseys opener from the penalty spot, but he was clearly offside before being brought down by Shkodran Mustafi. In what became a tale of two penalties, luck completely deserted the Gunners when Pierre Emerick-Aubameyangs injury-time spot-kick was saved by Hugo Lloris. And while Emery refused to criticise the match officials, he believes the Kane incident clearly demonstrates why VAR’s introduction can’t come soon enough.Kane equalised from the spot2

For the referee, its very difficult, he told talkSPORT.I think its positive that VAR is coming in next year because it can help the referees make less mistakes.Yes [it was offside]. You watch it better than me! I know its difficult for the referee but today his performance was good. They were doing very good work with personality. Arsenal were seemingly comfortable for large periods of the match, as Emery favoured a compact system and started with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aubameyang on the bench. It almost proved a masterstroke, and the Frenchman was pleased with his teams performance, if not the result.“A lot of things can happen in 90 minutes, you don’t miss one minute thinking its not important, he added.Lloris guessed corectly to save from Aubameyang2

“We are not happy with the result but we are proud of our performance and our work. The Gunners missed the opportunity to get to within one point of third-place Spurs, and were later overtaken by Manchester United in the race for the top four.Chelsea can climb above both Arsenal and United if they win both of their games in hand, starting with Fulham away on Sunday.

fking proud of the team. i must say tbh, they outperformed every single bit of my expectation going into this match. i wasn't so hopeful we would come out with a positive result, was thinking it could come down to a draw, but boy did we cook up a performace. a good fought battle with some really good team fluidity and chemistry (its been a while lads), tactical nous and some really great

They got the first half offside call right. They messed up the one on the Kane penalty, but you know what? If big oaf Mustafi doesn't barrel into his back (which isn't going to help either way) a penalty isn't called. There's a chance Kane misses the volley. Causing a penalty is never the right fucking answer.
