Tottenham’s season is in danger of collapse after Crystal Palace knocked them out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory on Sunday.Conor Wickham ended a 799-day goal drought before ex-Spurs man Andros Townsend netted from the spot following a moment of madness from Kyle Walker-Peters.3

And Tottenham, who lost their Carabao Cup semi-final to Chelsea on penalties just three days ago, endured another spot-kick nightmare as Kieran Trippier blasted wide from 12 yards during a frantic first-half.Spurs, without a host of star players including Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son, toiled in the second-half but Palace held firm to seal a momentous victory. Palace took a ninth-minute lead when Jeff Schlupp’s shot was saved by Paulo Gazzaniga but he could only push the ball into the path of Wickham and he converted off his thigh.The home side extended their advantage after Walker-Peters senselessly handled in the penalty area with Wickham lurking, and Townsend slammed the resulting spot-kick straight down the middle.After Townsend missed another decent opportunity for Palace,Georges-Kevin Nkoudou saw two efforts saved by Julian Speroni, although he really ought to have scored.3

Tottenham were awarded a penalty of their own when Patrick Van Aanholt brought down Juan Foyth, but Trippier fired well wide to ensure the Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the break.It was one-way traffic in the second half as Spurs tried in vain to get themselves back into the tie.Substitute Erik Lamela provided a spark and Fernando Llorente forced another good save from Speroni, while at the other end Gazzaniga denied Wilfired Zaha a third goal.3

But Spurs ultimately faltered without their attacking superstars.Their only remaining hopes of silverware this season lie in the Champions League and an unlikely Premier League title bid.
