Liverpool have the best defence in the league by some distance, but it’s proving a tough nut to crack in FPL. Persistent injuries to their cheaper options mean you need to spend big on Virgil van Dijk or Andy Robertson if you want a guaranteed starter in their back line.

In: Lucas Digne (Everton) – 5.3m

If you’ve got a bit of money in the bank, Digne is your man. Two double-figure returns in his last four matches, plus a promising run of fixtures at an attractive price. Everton do not play any of the top six in their next four games.

Out: Callum Wilson (Bournemouth) – 6.5m
