Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has defended Daniel Sturridge after Burnley boss Sean Dyche labelled the striker a cheat.Dyche appeared to fall out with Klopp in the aftermath of the Reds’ 3-1 victory at Turf Moor on Wednesday.3

Dyche accused Sturridge of diving

The Clarets manager later revealed his frustration when Sturridge went down too easily in his eyes to win a free-kick in the first half.Its funny, he didnt reference Daniel Sturridges cheating, said the Burnley boss when talking about Klopp’s comments that his side were overly physical.I just cant believe Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans and I dont believe they do would want cheating in the game and sacrifice good, honest challenges.But Klopp responded: “Sturridge is no cheat.3

Klopp and Dyche seem to have fallen out

“I’m not sure if he spoke about the challenge of [Phil] Bardsley on Alberto Moreno.“The game is really hard and sometimes a striker expects a tackle by jumping.”The feud between the two began after Klopp suggested Burnley were too rough in their tackles on Wednesday night, with Dyche accusing the German of ‘trying to reinvent the rules’.Ben Mee’s hard-but-fair challenge has sidelined Joe Gomez for up to six weeks and Liverpool will also be unable to call on Dejan Lovren at Bournemouth on Saturday due to a concussion. On Virjil van Dijk’s workload, Klopp added: “It’s not the same intensity but with Joe out and Dejan out we don’t have to think about that.”Klopp had been rotating youngsters Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gomez on the right side of defence, when Gomez was not partnering Van Dijk in the centre.The Reds boss admits he now has to come up with a plan to safeguard the long-term fitness of 20-year-old Alexander-Arnold.It is likely to mean midfielders James Milner, who had a season at left-back a couple of years ago, and Fabinho stepping in to give the young England international a break.Another option, albeit more of a gamble, is to bring in Rafael Camacho from the under-21s after the 18-year-old was drafted into the squad for Wednesday’s win at Burnley.getty3

Joe Gomez had started the season in fine form

“It’s just a shame for the boy,” Klopp said of Gomez’s injury.“For us he was in outstanding shape and he helped us a lot, especially because we could make these changes with Trent and Joe.“That was really important because Trent is still a young boy and we cannot push him through 20 games in a row.“He would probably say he is OK but I think it is responsible we have an eye on that.“I have a plan – surprisingly. We will see what we will do but we have other options of course.“There are a lot of players who can play that position, especially in the way we play now.“Wait a little bit and you will see which other options we have.” Klopp has other injury concerns with Sadio Mane’s cut foot meaning he is ruled out of the trip to the south coast while fellow forward Dominic Solanke is not expected to return to training until after the Bournemouth game.On Lovren Klopp said: “He will not be available. He got a knock last week, concussion, and is still not able to play. Clyney is out for two weeks or so. Nothing serious, but not in training and so not available.“Joe, Oxlade, Rhian Brewster and Dom Solanke (are all unavailable), but Dom is close. I hope that he will be in team training again from Sunday on. We will see.”
